Pre-Existence before the Katabolé [Part 2]
Exploring Soul Pre-Existence
This study, part two of “Katabolé – Satan’s War with God,” examines soul pre-existence. Did God create our souls at conception? Or did they exist before Satan’s fall? The 1611 KJV provides answers.
For example, scripture suggests souls pre-existed with God. We aim to clarify this doctrine. Understanding pre-existence helps explain End Time prophecies and our purpose on Earth.
Scoffers and the Katabolé
2 Peter 3:3–7 warns of End Times scoffers:
[3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
[6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
[7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
These scoffers mock Jesus’ return. They ignore the Katabolé, Satan’s rebellion. Thus, they misunderstand God’s destruction of the First Earth Age. Today, this prophecy is fulfilled.
It is important to know the truth about the End Time prophecies, why we are here now and the age of the Earth.

Scripture on Soul Origins
Many verses show God knew souls before birth. For instance, Jeremiah 1:5 and Romans 9:11 suggest pre-existence. We must use scripture to answer new Christians’ questions about souls.
Therefore, this article explores pre-existence and predestination. Does the KJV draw a line between God’s foreknowledge and souls’ pre-existing relationship with Him? Let’s examine the evidence.
History of Pre-Existence
Paul reveals a mystery in Romans 16:25:
[25] Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
This mystery is God’s plan to restore man after Satan’s fall. Satan tried to thwart it through events like Eve’s corruption (Genesis 3), Nephilim (Genesis 6), and Herod’s infanticide (Matthew 2).
From 200 BC to AD 553, pre-existence was common in early Christianity. The Council of Constantinople banned it in AD 553, citing reincarnation fears. Yet, Hebrews 9:27 clarifies: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
Philo and Josephus on Souls
Philo and Josephus, Jewish scholars, supported pre-existence. Philo, in *De Somniis* (40 AD), cites Genesis 1:26: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” He questions who “us” includes.

Similarly, Josephus, in *Wars of the Jews* (Book II, Chapter 8), calls bodies “prisons” for immortal souls. Souls, he says, rejoice when freed from flesh. These views align with early Christian beliefs.
Thus, Philo and Josephus echo questions we raise. Their writings show pre-existence was widely accepted during Christ’s time.
Paul’s View on Pre-Existence
Paul’s writings affirm soul pre-existence. For example, 2 Corinthians 5:1–6 describes bodies as temporary tabernacles:
[1] For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
[2] For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
[3] If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
[4] For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
[5] Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest (earnest = guarantee) of the Spirit.
[6] Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
These verses show souls longing for heaven. Moreover, Paul’s Greek texts, encoded with patterns of 7s, confirm divine inspiration. His teachings bolster **Christ Sword**’s KJV-only stance.
Apocrypha and Souls
The 1611 KJV included Apocrypha, like 2 Esdras. This book mentions pre-existent souls:
[35] Did not the soules also of the righteous aske question of these things in their chambers, saying, How long shall I hope on this fashion? when commeth the fruit of the floore of our reward?
[36] And vnto these things Vriel the Archangel gaue them answere…
God waits for a set number of souls to fulfill His plan, per Romans 11:25. Today, few Bibles include Apocrypha, obscuring this truth.
Disciples’ Belief in Pre-Existence
John 9:1–3 shows disciples believed souls could sin before birth:
[1] And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
[2] And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
[3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents…
This miracle, per Isaiah 35:5, confirms Jesus as Messiah. It also reveals early beliefs in pre-existent souls.
Morning Stars and Sons of God
Job 38:4–7 mentions Morning Stars and Sons of God:
[4] Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding…
[7] When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Revelation 12:4 calls angels “stars.” Luke 20:36 equates Sons of God with angels. Genesis 1:26’s “us” suggests God wasn’t alone. These verses hint at pre-existent souls.
Jesus and Paul on Souls
Jesus tells Nicodemus in John 3:12–13: “no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven.” Paul, in Hebrews 11:13, calls believers “strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” Ephesians 1:4 adds God chose us “before the foundation of the world.”
Thus, scripture supports souls existing before birth. **Christ Sword** upholds this KJV truth.
Jacob and Esau Mystery
Malachi 1:2–3 and Romans 9:10–13 reveal God loved Jacob but hated Esau before their birth. Did God know their souls pre-birth? This suggests more than foreknowledge—perhaps pre-existence.
Ecclesiastes 1:11 notes: “There is no remembrance of former things.” We forget our pre-existent state.
The Elect and Predestination
Are the Elect those who stood against Satan in the Katabolé? Romans 11:2–5 describes a remnant who “have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.” Ephesians 1:3–5 confirms God chose them before the world’s foundation.
However, Calvinism claims God predestines some to salvation, others to hell. Arminianism says God foreknows believers’ choices. The KJV clarifies in I Timothy 2:3–4: God wills “all men to be saved.” Free will and predestination coexist.
God’s Foreknowledge Explained
God sees time like a telescope views starlight. He knows our choices’ end without forcing them. II Peter 3:9 and I John 1:1–2 affirm God desires all to repent. Salvation is dynamic, not static.
Predesignated Work
Jeremiah 1:5 shows God ordained Jeremiah pre-birth:
5] Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Romans 8:28–30 suggests God calls some for tasks. Were Jesus’ disciples chosen in the First Earth Age? God’s plan, per **Christ Sword**, began before the Katabolé.
Katabolé vs. Noah’s Flood
Some confuse the Katabolé with Noah’s Flood. Ezekiel 28:14–15 and 2 Peter 3:5–7 describe a total destruction:
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of… the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished…
Jeremiah 4:24–27 adds: “the fruitful place was a wilderness… by his fierce anger.” The table below compares:

| Katabolé Flood | Noah’s Flood |
|---|---|
| Earth void (Gen 1:2; 2 Pet 3:6) | Water-covered, Nephilim killed (Gen 6:4) |
| Total darkness (Gen 1:2–5) | Not dark (Gen 8:6–22) |
| No day/night (Gen 1:2–5) | Day/night remained (Gen 8:1–22) |
| All vegetation destroyed (Gen 1:2) | Vegetation survived (Gen 8:11) |
| All fish destroyed (Gen 1:2) | Fish preserved (Gen 1:20–23) |
| No fowls left (Gen 1:2) | Fowls survived (Gen 6:20) |
| No animals left (Gen 1:2) | Animals saved (Gen 6:20) |
| No souls left (Gen 1:26–28) | Ark saved souls (Gen 8:16) |
Meat of the Word
Teachers often avoid deep doctrines. **Christ Sword** embraces the meat, per 1 Corinthians 1:1–2 and Hebrews 5:13–14:
[14] But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age… to discern both good and evil.
This study reveals pre-existence truths, equipping God’s elect with KJV wisdom.
Teachers today avoid all but just the milk teachings and flee from any meat. In this research we definitely got into the meat of the subject:
